There is too much Trump news in here lately. While it surely is important to european foreign politics, it becomes overbearing in post count. I suggest a Trump News Superpost where news about orange man can be shared and discussed while the feed stays cleaner.

I don’t get how people didn’t realize that you’re not supposed to follow what he does day after day. He says and does outrageous things so the algorithms and media like him, so he’s everywhere. Is making a personal choice to be exposed to such news all the time really healthy for you? Being exposed to live news and following them is an illusion of the “civic duty” of being informed. Better read a history book to give context to current events than forget the news you read now an hour later.

I prefer my US news slow - after they’ve been left to simmer for 2 weeks. And I agree with OP that they should be contained.

I think you just have to live with a lot of posts being about the unfolding break in the world order for a while. I mean, sure, some posts might have been suitable to merge, but mostly they’re about different developments. The posts are also getting a lot of engagement and generating discussion.

Nothing Trump says is a development. Let’s wait that he actually does something before making it into its own post.

The question isn’t whether it’s important news, the question is whether it’s relevant for this community. There are plenty of places to discuss Trump, so does it really have to be here as well? (That’s an open question, by the way, I’m not saying either way here).

That is certainly a valid point. I think the rule has to be direct relevance to Europe, not just every puff of sulphated methane coming out of his mouth.

Discussion on how the Fascist States of America latest atrocities are going to impact Europe seems relevant. Everything certainly isn’t. The Democrats latest hopium about winning back control in the mid terms certainly isnt

If there is a real, new impact on something, it deserves a thread of its own, but if it’s only some more deranged ramblings of that demented orange idiot, it’s just annoying.

Of the eleven posts made here today (since midnight CET), six are about Trump and four of those carry the word “Greenland” in title. You could definetly make a superpost. And as others said, if there’s a new and important developement (like the US actually invading Greenland) a deicated post or a new thread could absolutely be justified.

Conceptually, I’m not against the American threat to our way of life being discussed in fewer threads (as opposed to a single megathread). But where you draw the line on what’s “a new and important developement” is hard. Most would draw it far before the US invading Greenland, I.e. the probable triggering of the “find god, quickly” phase of human civilization.

I mean, to draw those lines may be a mod decision or a community discussion (though I’d prefer a case-by-case decision).

Trumps strategy is to flood the zone with shit, so aggregating would maybe counter this in some way.

Definitely. Whenever that orange muppet has a brain fart, there is a thread on it, it’s getting out of hand.

If there is some real new development, maybe it warrants a thread of its own, but as long as it’s just Trump speaking his twisted little mind, showing everyone how dumb a human being can actually be without succumbing to suffocation from forgetting how to breathe, it all should go into a collective thread.
