      There are some security reasons you might not want to do that. If you’re using an untrusted USB power supply — say, an airport charging station — using a power-only cord avoids any potential attack vector from the charger.

          No dispute there.

          Another option might be to have a “data-only adapter”.

      Thin wires just for charging are more convenient. Heck, i would like a thinner HDMI cable for my portable monitor, since it has only 1080p.
