Imagine if americans started exporting their landfills to Europe, and Europe tried passing legislation to prevent this, and americans went “But it’s a free market, you shouldn’t make any laws restricting trade. If someone in Europe wants to buy american garbage, then they should have that option!”
That’s essentially the argument I’ve heard americans make about importing american chicken to the UK, and the same mentality is obvious here.
Ask them what that says about their tariffs and they’ll go “wtf are you talking about? that’s different!”
