They are an oversea territory of Denmark, whose citizens are all danish and members of the EU. While technically not part of the EU it’s all but a technicality, by those same standards Alaska should not be a part of the USA. Even in the worst possible interpretation of this it’s like a country invading Puerto Rico.

No, Greenland isn’t part of the EU because of a “technicality”, they voted to leave decades ago.
And whilst not technically being a member of the EU they will gladly take their funding, thank you very much!
