Almost all new cars sold in Norway last year were fully electric, according to official registration data published Friday. It puts the Nordic country within touching distance of effectively erasing gasoline and diesel cars from its new car market. “2025 has been a very special car year,” Geir Inge Stokke, director of the Norwegian Road Traffic Information Council, said in a statement.

    It’s over now.

So, Norwegians are going to go back to fossil fuels? Is it a good time to short the operators for the major charge networks now?

We’ll see. If I were a gambling man I’d wager that new car sales will be more PHEV than EV. I for one bought a PHEV last year, as that’s what suits me the best.

When it comes to Tesla, I’m pretty sure they’re losing market share here. The reason why they have been so popular is because previously mentioned economic incentives were deployed pretty early (2011 or thereabouts, I think), and Tesla took advantage of that and got in early with infrastructure for sales, service, and charging, gaining a massive market share early on. This was long before Musk publicly and explicitly proved himself to be a scumbag. If you saw am EV, it would most likely be a Tesla.

I see more and more BYD and Volvo EVs these days, and I think they’re capitalizing on Tesla causing a societal shift in proving that EVs can be good. And more and more people are realizing how poorly build Teslas are.
