English/Dutch: €1 German/French/Spanish/Italian: 1 € Since this post is in English, the sign is in the correct place. Source: European Comission English style guide page 52

According to this they used the wrong abbreviation for billion then though: ‘B’ instead of ‘bn’ But also ew: “− €240” It makes no sense to me since all other units come after the amount, or do you write “– °F56”
minus-squareWaterSword@discuss.tchncs.delinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·2 hours agoI mean it’s just what you’re used to. I’m from the Netherlands, so for me seeing 240 € looks weird. That’s just how language works. (Which is great in my opinion, there never should be one exact way to do language)
minus-squareTeNppa@sopuli.xyzlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·4 hours agoI think it is so because the amount is written on checks and putting the sign before the amount prevents adding more numbers.
