    My bet is no. Portugal had an actual revolution overthrowing our far right dictator more or less at the same time as Spain, and the populist far right is still rising

      And we here in Germany really did a lot of work remembering and teaching about the crimes of the Nazis. We still have those far right idiots. Switzerland never had a dictatorship and they have far right idiots. Italy has them, France, too. And if you take a look outside of Europe, those far right parties are everywhere. Ignoring Francos crimes is not great, but can’t explain what is happening worldwide

      Did they punish important collaborators to the dictatorship or were they pardoned en masse?

        No, that is what the ‘pact of forgetting’ is about. In 1977 they gave everybody full amnesty. It was basically a deal that the right allows democracy for amnesty. It worked, but it was also 50years ago, so most of them are dead due to age anyway. With a leftist government in power they are starting to talk about it again.
