Lawmakers approved the exclusion of plant-based products from certain labels, with strong support from France's livestock and meat industry.

In reality, it’s because the farming lobby is the biggest lobby inside the EU. This is an easy “win” that MEPs can use to get beef farmers to vote for them again.

Same reason CAP will never be reformed.
