The price isn’t capped but it doesn’t matter that they sell it for less profit.
They sell it to India for cash which funds their war against Ukraine. India likes the cheap resources so doesn’t care that they are funding Russia’s invasion.
If they sell it for the same as it cost to extract and transport it then there’s nothing left over to fund their war.
It’ll never be perfect, but if we tank our economies just to make a point, what good is that? We’re able give a lot to Ukraine because we can keep the energy cost fairly low.

The G7 is the US, EU, GB, Canada. India is not in the G7. They aren’t following the sanctions. That’s the issue.
