i hadn’t felt fresh air for two weeks because i was committed to the psych ward against my will. but now i’m back! (DW i didn’t escape, they let me out)
yup! that happens when you’re extra bonkers. at the time i wasn’t delusional but i was amped as fuck and i was rambling about shit the cops didn’t understand. but it wasn’t the cops’ decision to lock me up, that was the doctors’ call
same here! the only problem is that coffee makes me so amped i seem manic, and i have a 12 cup a day habit. also there’s the fact i had a traumatic brain injury that, as far as i can tell, has made me permanently hypomanic. the only reason people didn’t realize that earlier was because i was overmedicated on lithium, which would make anyone a zombie, even someone with permanent hypomania.
A lot of Europe is actually further north than Toronto. I don’t think a lot of Americans realise that because they’re used to looking at the traditional world map which is quite distorted.
It’s also the gulf stream and Mediterranean weather systems. In America it’s really easy to just guess how far north something is by temperature unless it’s on the west coast. So it’s really easy to just assume that the pacific northwest and England are at similar latitudes based on similar weather, and being pretty far north, but reasonably comfortable year round. But nope, Seattle is closer in latitude to Lisbon.
This also plays in with how we’re taught that white settlers were really unprepared for the weather of New England in winter. Turns out, nope they went pretty far south to colonize a place with brutal winters
Kristiansund? Det er bra farlig å kjøre her oppe for tiden. Turistene trenger ikke å ta mørkekjøring eller glattkjøring for å leie bil med piggfrie dekk.
For those who don’t speak Norwegian: if you are planning to go to northern Norway and haven’t driven on snow and ice before, please please please 🙏 don’t rent a fucking car. It’s making the roads (and apparently ski trails) really unsafe. Find somewhere in the centre to stay and pay for someone local to drive for you. Also, please don’t shit in people’s gardens, or hike without spikes and proper winter clothes. The rescue helicopter is not a taxi.
I haven’t seen the sun since November.
That’s all I get for a few more days.
They said sky, not sun.

That’s just what someone who escaped from a psych ward would say…
look can you just not tell them i was the one who pulled the fire alarm? thanks
Against your will?

That’s called a 5150 here in California, although that’s only up to 72 hours. I hope you’re doing better now!
much better! i’m stable, sober, and on my meds.
Very glad to hear it!

A 5150 can be extended if the Psych Ward doctors see it as necessary, but I think it gets a new name
Can … can you put a poster of the sun on your wall?
You could… Doesn’t really help with the vitamin d.
Yeah, but over here the sun is so low, it blinds you constantly. I don’t know if I like it better.
The sun’s always low in the sky here.
My condolences

I found the company “Reinar Skatseth” just from that sign, turns out this is in Tomasjord, Norway, just east of Tromsø.
