Naloxone, sold under the brand name Narcan among others, is an opioid antagonist, a medication used to reverse or reduce the effects of opioids. For example, it is used to restore breathing after an opioid overdose. But it totally ruins your high and literally blocks off those receptors, so you feel like absolute shit afterwards. And can’t get high on those receptors for a while.
Yeah the classic patient education as to why they can’t be given more opiates when their POSS score is too high is that “if you think it hurts bad now, you do NOT wanna know what it’s like to get narcanned.”
