  • Reminded me of a typical argument between me and my delusional, selfish, narcissistic parents as a teenager. Saying anything at all would make them throw a tantrum.

Trump and Vance did the same type of thing: expected complete fealty after they had voted against Ukraine to join NATO and demanded respect when the previous administration were the ones that did most of the work beforehand. Getting pouty and shouty when he didn’t agree to their shitty “deal.” Brought up meaningless arguments about “respect” and not saying thank you when he had multiple times. Utter madness.

This was about putting on a show for their constituents and they would have done the same if he went in there kissing their asses. But he refused to play the game which made them angrier.

Vance bringing up the conspiracy theory shit about Zelensky putting on a show for visitors as if he was exaggerating is what really set me off. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together saw right through this bullshit song and dance.

  • Dated someone like this. She needed constant external validation. Had self-esteem issues. Narcissistic. Never satisfied. Extreme anxiety. Separation anxiety. Hot and cold all the time. Always hopping from new infatuation to the next.

I was already deep in corporate and she couldn’t understand why I was content when I found something stable. We split when I got tired of the constant cheating and dumped her. Everything was a pissing contest and she always had to win. She was furious I dumped her first, even.

She’s successful now but still never content. Found out she was bipolar which explains so much from the past.

  • I was on-call and half awake when I got paged about a cache server’s memcached being down for the third time that night. They’d all start to go down like dominoes if you weren’t fast enough at restarting the service, which could overwhelm the database and messaging tiers (baaaaad news to say the least). Two more had their daemon shit the bed while I was examining it. Often it was best to just kick it on all of them to rebalance things. It was… not a great design.

So I wrote a quick loop to ssh in and restart the service on each box in the tier to refresh them all just in case and hopefully stop the incessant pages. Well. In my bleary eyed state I set reboot in the variable instead of restart. Took out the whole cache tier (50+) and the web site. First and only time I did that but that definitely woke me up. Oddly enough the site ran better after that for months as my reboots uncovered an undiscovered problem.

Just read an article that was basically saying we should consider all gut flora frenemies now. If you don’t eat enough fiber even the “good” kinds that help your body process it will go for your mucus lining, breach the cell barrier and enter the bloodstream. This causes inflammation and may also accelerate aging. Neat.

TLDR; eat fiber and don’t get old.

It should slowly leak out if you tighten it just so. Probably depends on the valvecap design but generally the standard black ones will not leak rapidly even if they screw them all the way. A peppercorn or airsoft bb will also work.

  • Lenovo artificially inflates the [M]SRP and has fake “sales” to make it seem like you’re getting a good deal. Never ever trust that.

As you discovered there is often one single person working on getting these devices compatible. As an example the OpenBSD team and others will sometimes suggest you donate a system in order for anything to happen. And even then there are no guarantees if blobs are involved.

This is a pretty big goof up but I’ve made the same mistake when the x200 first came out. I think you’re getting dragged because what people are curious about is what specifically isn’t working. I’m surprised it’s working at all but then again John is a beast.

  • I have to make a conscious effort to avoid doing this because I know how exhausting it is. Especially if I don’t know the person very well. Often I clam up instead to avoid it. And I will still end up doing it sometimes. It sucks. I don’t think it’s a super power or cute - it’s embarrassing. On the plus side I’ve had some comment that my nearly eidetic recall and ability to link seemingly unrelated subjects together on-the-fly seemingly effortlessly is what makes me interesting.
