I mainly changed it because the downvotes from patriotic Europeams had already started to pour in on the “what’s the matter with Europe?” title and I figured the new one both reflected the content better and would avoid that kind of “just read the title and I’m mad” response.
Thanks, that is a much better title - just replaced the original in my post with it. Got to love lemmy letting you edit post titles!
Yes I definitely assume that. Maybe not every single person since who knows what goes on in people’s heads, but generally we should expect the voters for the two left of center parties to prefer the other left of center one to the right wing one. Particularly since presumably if there was a single party representing those voters it would probably be somewhere in between them ideology-wise.
Sure, why would election coverage not be news?
Haha at least one person enjoyed it, it’s getting hails of downvotes in every instance.
“When corrected” is doing a lot of work there
Oh no they’ll contaminate some glass and plastic that have been thrown away!
We’re in one of the best times to be alive in history and the world is still getting better in many ways, I just try to feel grateful for that when I see something that’s bad or getting worse.
Yeah just go ahead and put them in the metal / glass / plastic recycling, they will figure it out on that end with all the others that get thrown in there.
I’d endorse that summary of his policy preferences. It’s staggering how crippling having a monetary but not a fiscal union has been for Europe.
I think the big thing is not having any requirements to join, you just make an account and you’re in. I started out trying to join a different instance and the second I saw a list of questions to answer I noped out and came here.
That doesn’t make any sense. If I’m instantly transported 2 feet to my left I’m still going to be in the same room, not in outer space. Maybe you’re thinking of this issue with time travel?
Meaning you’re on a space station right now?
In the general election the “feasible” candidate is always the Democratic nominee, so you should never have any argument about it at that stage. Meanwhile in the primary people try to use that sort of “feasibility” / electability argument against farther left Dems, but it is total nonsense and can be completely ignored at that stage.
And it’s a disaster in Canada. The only reason the Conservatives ever take power up there is because of the giant vote split between NDP and the Liberals. Look how the conservatives are heavy favorites to win their next election despite every poll showing them with less than the combined votes of the Liberals and NDP: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_for_the_45th_Canadian_federal_election
I was on Mastodon starting soon after Musk bought twitter, and bluesky few the last few months. Mastodon is a lot more similar to lemmy in terms of being part of the fediverse, while bluesky sort of claims to be going for a federated thing of its own but so far is pretty much just a centralized server like twitter so far. Perhaps because of that, I find bluesky a lot more engaging and more similar to pre-Musk twitter. A lot of the choices the Mastodon creators implemented were deliberately reducing virality and “one big chatroom” feel that I at least liked about twitter. I wasn’t looking for those changes, just a microblogging social network not owned by fascists.
So basically if you want something like lemmy go with Mastodon, if you want something old twitter go with bluesky.
Usually one in the morning. Once in a while another one if I get too sweaty or dirty.
Just go with whatever gender they more come off as to you so you don’t get confused.
I pirate and I think doing so should be legal and accepted. It’s one thing to have a copyright for profitable uses of some content, a whole other much crazier thing to say copyright forbids sharing that content for free. File sharing should be thought of the same way as letting your friend borrow your book - just a normal and uncontroversial nice thing to do, that you shouldn’t avoid based on some concern it will lead to lower book sales.
Probably just a minor processing error in your sound driver and nothing to worry about. I think I have had a similar experience with a particular white noise machine with hearing some slightly patterned sound when there wasn’t really a pattern. If it’s bothering you or increasing can’t hurt to go see a doctor (well can’t hurt too bad as long as you’re insured…) and get their input.
