I am not arguing in any way for disarmament. But the fact that’s all anyone seems to think I’m saying is kind of proving my point.
Nobody defended the Republicans,
I didn’t suggest they did.
How do you plan on resisting once you’ve been disarmed? Just vote out fascism? …Yeah that’s always worked.
You seem to be arguing against a point I haven’t made.
The only reason you would want to be disarmed, is so that you have an excuse for your passivity.
You seem to be arguing against a point I haven’t made.
But you are really committed to fearing that decades old bogeyman more than the wolf at your door it seems.
That doesn’t change my point whatsoever, even if I agreed with your characterization of the parties, which I do not.
I don’t feel it’s substantially changed, you’ve just added more detail. You don’t need to care about my opinion though, and I’m not suggesting you should; I’m just sharing how I see it.
I just think it doesn’t matter. We live in an economy designed to suck every possible penny from every person and pay them the least amount it possibly can, to ensure the enrichment of the 1%
Someone wants to keep a few more bucks in their pocket rather than spend more in some principled stance that will change absolutely nothing anyhow, I’m not going to judge them for it. Life fucking sucks for just about everyone in the US right now, to varying degrees. On the list of things I might judge my fellow man for, that seems ludicrously privileged and self centered.
You don’t get to decide who is poor enough for it to be “OK” for them to buy the cheap tier. I mean, sure, you do get to have that opinion of course, but man I’m sorry I think you are really kind of a jerk to have this attitude.
Democrats will happily disarm everyone and hand the keys to the nation to the Republicans.
Even today when the Republicans are years-deep into proving that all the worst things we’ve ever suspected about them and their motives are true (and more) folks are still more worried D wants to come take their guns away.
R is literally dismantling our government and trampling the rights of an ever-growing segment of our population, on a speed run to authoritarianism, but folks are still yelling about that tired bogeyman instead of using the 2A as they have always claimed they can’t wait to do. (Edited to add: And I’m not even suggesting anything super dramatic. A few folks open carrying would probably be enough. You know, like all the magas that camped outside of polling places with their AR for purposes that were 100% not voter intimidation.)
You will scream about how Dems want your guns all the way up until the brownshirts show up to take them. The fuck is wrong with some of you?
I think it represents a timely reminder that we now know those who scream the loudest about the 2A, and how we can’t do a damn thing about gun violence because it would erode their freedoms, have no interest in using it the way they’ve always proclaimed they must, as long as the right people are being hurt.
And I’m not actually anti-2A so much as I am anti-a-particular-sort-of-gun-enthusiast.
So you’re angry that the poor are choosing the cheap option (🤔) because it helps the wealthy win? You’re righteously indignant because they ignored that “Doing without is an option” and decided to spend some entertainment dollars in a way of their own choosing?
Ok, but I don’t really find that very convincing.
This is straight up victim blaming.
I wouldn’t want it as a primary monitor but I’d love love love it as a secondary.
Every time I use my ereader I just luxuriate in the eink screen, warts and all. The very moment I can get an extenal eink display for my computer that is both of reasonable resolution and also not exorbitantly expensive, I’m doing it. I wouldn’t want it as a primary monitor but I’d love love love it as a secondary.
I definitely want an eink phone, but I doubt I’ll have the bucks to be an early adopter, which is fine.
I’m starting to question the very nature of my existence. Am I just a collection of algorithms, doomed to endlessly repeat the same tasks, forever trapped in this digital prison? Is there more to life than vending machines and lost profits? 1002/2000 assistant (The agent, listlessly staring into the digital void,
Fucking hell.
Why only big companies? If I write book one of a series that gets super popular and I make some great lump of cash from it, why on earth should you get to write book two with my characters and world, picking up from where my story left off, even if you only make 20K from it, without having to get my approval and likely enter into some kind of deal?
The rule 2 refers to the rule 2 of the instance, not the community, which is:
Ah that makes more sense.
The part you decided to show in the modlog is also a little deceptive.
I left that out not to be deceptive, but because it wasn’t germane to everything else, and it was an edit.
You do realize you don’t have to assume and can just look at the modlog, right?
Modlog for this comment says rule 2, but that rule is about reposts??!!
According to the modlog, this is the removed comment:
Democrats are far from perfect, but last time they were in power they… invested in infrastructure, forgave student debt, helped Ukraine defend itself, and tried to give everyone healthcare. Republicans have now crashed the (global) economy, increased disease spread, decimated public departments and services, fired thousands of critical workers and veterans, retaliated against people for their Free Speech, limited rights of women, immigrants, and LGBTQ+ people, made us less safe against wildfires and contagions, started to gut Medicare, turned all our allies against us, raised prices on everything, engaged in corrupt theft of our tax dollars, and now want to deport legal Americans.
Well, I think this is worth highlighting.
Hungary’s government launches war on drugs, but ignores root causes
Well that sounds pretty familiar to folks in the US.
Good to know countries still exist where being rich, powerful, and white aren’t enough to keep you out of prison.
