How do you sell what you did as “it just worked”? Rightaway? You lied to them. You have your coworkers on an unmanaged machine with a foreign OS on the guest WiFi with custom networking. Don’t oversell a workaround as a solution.
Simplifying the problem to “Windows” seems unfair, given how many problems you found. All of them still require a long-term solution for regular operation.

Nicht irgendwelche Leute. Das ist verboten. Aber jeder Bürger hat das Recht sich gegen Feinde der Verfassung zu wehren. Und Nazis wollen diese Verfassung abschaffen.
Du genießt in dem Land in dem du geboren bist üblicherweise umfangreiche Rechte die Ausländer erstmal nicht bekommen. Das ist für dich ein Vorteil.
Viele Ausländer, besonders Flüchtlinge, wären mit Sicherheit lieber in ihrer Heimat, wenn es dort einigermaßen sicher wäre. Ich habe nichts gegen Menschen die bei uns Zuflucht suchen. Ich erkenne deren Herausforderungen an, und möchte mir diese nicht zumuten weil ein paar Hurensöhne bei uns den dicken Max machen.
Wo sich da bei mir wirklich die Grenze zwischen Flucht und Bürgerkrieg befindet, bleibt aber hoffentlich für immer offen.
Glaube du warst da noch besser informiert als ich. Aber wenn verurteilte Ausländer ohne Asyl ihre Strafe nicht hier absitzen, sondern das Land verlassen müssen, finde ich das erstmal ganz vernünftig. Wie lange man eine Person in Deutschland im Gefängnis für 1000€ unterbringen kann, müsste ich nachlesen, aber ich behaupte, das ist nicht lange.
Geht nicht um Abschreckung. Wenn verurteilte Straftäter aus dem Ausland bei uns Geld kosten, dann wollen wir dafür eine Lösung.
Wenn Leute durch die halbe Welt reisen und bei uns dann Verbrechen begehen, womit will man die abschrecken, nachdem sie mit einer Nussschale übers Meer gekommen sind? Mit dem Tod?
Die 28 verurteilen Straftäter waren aber real. Die konnten wir nur mit Hilfe von Katar wieder loswerden. Was ist denn dafür die Lösung? Sie bei uns im Knast sozialisieren und ihnen dann Asyl geben? Hab ansonsten noch nichts realistisches gehört was human wäre. Aber Asyl zu verschenken wenn man vorher nur mal vernünftig kriminell bei uns war klingt auch nicht besonders nachhaltig.
Es geht hier schon um ein reales Problem. Wenn man Leute die sich damit nur mal befassen gleich als fremdenfeindlich bezeichnet, hilft das nicht.
Probleme sind heute global. Lieber Nazis totschlagen als woanders der Ausländer zu sein.
Sich gegen Feinde der Verfassung zu wehren ist für mich als deutscher Staatsbürger durch selbige Verfassung geschützt. Probleme muss man angehen und nicht davon laufen.

But on the other hand, you have to realize that not all of the money purely goes to enabling knowledge sharing with Wikimedia. This is not an election, it’s a company, non-profit or for-profit doesn’t really matter. There are still people paying off business expenses from your donations.
I fully understand the necessity of this, but you might just feel better if your $5 literally bought someone a meal or if it paid for a fraction of a business flight to promote Wikimedia.
I do give in small streams and I do large annual contributions. I’m entirely not opposed to sharing.
I prefer to keep the small donations to individuals who also prefer a reliable stream of goodwill. Larger organizations also prefer reliable streams, but they also receive millions in donations overall, usually with significant large donors.
If you look long enough, you’ll find enough material to not want to contribute to Wikimedia. If your contribution was only a drop in the pool to begin with, maybe this is one of the expenses that is not for you to carry.

Makes sense. If you’re contributing less than $1000 monthly to anything, you’re not making a difference. If you want dedicated people to be on the receiving end, who also do a great job, every single person will cost thousands each month. Wikimedia is literally spending millions each year.
Honestly, don’t try to hunt for the “best” spot to contribute your exact amount of spare money to, with the hope of having the largest possible impact. It won’t happen. Treat a good friend to some food instead.
If you really feel like you already got some value out of a service in the past, give what you can, without limiting yourself financially in the process. If you feel like you don’t have the $1 to spend for Wikipedia, don’t spend it. Don’t guilt trip yourself into donations ever. Your donation today will not prevent a service from turning into shit tomorrow. Pay for what you got
I’ve been a funding member of the Wikimedia Foundation for over a decade. I have looked at their finances several times before and during financing them.
As with a lot of similar non-profits, a considerable amount of donations does not go into “running the servers”. You have to judge this by yourself, but they don’t embezzle any money and there is a reasonable bottom line. Wikipedia continuously helps tons of people, and the people who run the operation enable that.
You can download a full dump of Wikipedia any day. Compared to other lying companies, they have been true on their promises for some time.
Of all the $1 I could spend in a year, the one I give to Wikipedia is probably the least wrong invested, and that $1 actually already makes a difference
Not sure if I could fully agree with the root cause analysis, but it sounds about right for Europe as a whole. Things are likely still mostly as their were, with additional steps and reduced demand

Ich will nicht sagen ich hätte da anders agiert. Ich hatte in der Zeit nur das Gefühl, dass man FDP zu frei lügen lässt um die Koalition zu wahren. Wenn man auf diesem Level der Politik spielt, muss man mehr im Arsenal haben. Lindner hat so frei sabotiert, kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass wir alle Details kennen
Die Grünen haben die richtigen Ziele, aber der pazifistische Kern der Partei ist der aktuellen politischen Situation nicht gewachsen. Einem Rechtsruck muss man mit mehr Gewalt begegnen. Springer-Döpfner und Lindner hätte man mehr entgegen setzen müssen. Verstehe nicht was da gelaufen ist, dass man sich mit diesen Heizungslügen so vorführen lässt.
Will aber nicht zu viel jammern. Bin froh, dass sie überhaupt agieren konnten ohne danach als Schmutzmenschen dazustehen. Besser geht immer, aber Leistung ist hervorragend. Das ganze Bashing ist halt echt zu fast 100% aus dem Arsch gezogen. Ein Söder hat in der Zeit Geld in Hyperloops in Bayern investiert und Batzen für Insta Stories bezahlt. Uns geht’s gerade noch so fucking gut.

Yes people still buy Russian energy, some countries more than ever, sometimes through third parties, but total consumption is down.
Echt mit letzter Kraft haben sich diese Hurensöhne noch einmal aus der Bedeutungslosigkeit in die Regierung gelogen. Jetzt durften sie noch einmal kurz Politik für eine handvoll Unternehmer machen und dann spielt niemand von diesen Pfeifen jemals wieder eine Rolle.

Maybe I’m just old, but I thought a distribution is literally just a package delivery basically, just like you speculated. Making software work together nicely is actually already hard enough IMO. I don’t think anything is wrong. Valid question though
