All you need is to degrade the quality of the recorded video on any camera exposed to the public internet enough for ai to have divergent results due to how ambiguous the images captured are. There are thousands of hobby projects that let you browse actual feeds from such cameras and usually that means you can get hardware metadata and in most cases change how the video is recorded by patching the driver running on the already publicly accessed cameras. Why make an exaggerated strawman argument while at the same time pretending you know better than everyone else?

That’s exactly what most junior devs do when stuck. They rehash the same solution over and over and it almost seems like that llms trained on code bases infer that behavior from commit histories etc.

Often times the tech companies try to “disrupt” a particular industry by providing a tech based approach and then lobbying the legacy business out of existence thus limiting your choices. This is why the tech enshitification works, because there is no real competition. The uber wealthy simply force feed you what they want. Uber, Netflix, and Amazon all operated at a loss specifically to be able to starve out legitimate businesses and limit your choice to only what they provide. Now we don’t have much of independent book stores, taxis outside of big metro hubs, and god only knows what’s going on with streaming service prices.

The ultimate fuck you from modern tech is the “if you don’t like it, don’t use it” while at the same time they work tirelessly for their tech “solution” to be the only choice.

Okay counter example, all social media with its black box rightwing feeding rage bait algorithms instead of message boards. It’s all tech, what companies that drive these changes do affects us all in what we can and cannot use. Yes there has been technological progress that’s overall good, but there are many things that are a negative on society. Nobody is blaming the concept of technology… that’s just naive. Obviously the qualm is with the implementation and access to said tech which is necessarily gated and groomed by big corps.
