I can speak from direct experience here.

You quite literally — and this is triple true if you’re a POC — must submit to them and pay a lawyer to interact with the Corrections Department and the courts. Doing anything other than this, e.g., resisting arrest, arguing law, is a surefire way to get hurt or killed.

The police in the United States are not there to help, you should never talk to them. This includes arguing law.

Read their reply. This is someone who already made their mind up without even testing it.

You’re dealing with both impediments and social issues here. This would be difficult for anyone. I highly suggest professional help, but if it’s not available or you are unwilling, the next best thing would be to understand you’re going to need to fail a lot with intentions of getting better, and it may never happen. I’m rooting for you.
