341·6 days agoAlgorithms based on up/downvotes, comments, and time that are open source and visible are not the same as closed source algorithms attempting to increase engagement for shareholder profit, and you know it. Trying to conflate the two is disingenuous.

Who defines what is a natural and what is an artificial change?
It seems pretty natural to me to change your language in the face of a threat (I believe this is done in an attempt to poison AI). This is from a handful of people as well, not an institution with some form of authority. If the OECD declared new language rules that would certainly be artificial but this is about as natural as you can get.

Black Emperor, Hotline TNT, Massive Attack, and Sylvan Esso removed their music from the streaming service over objections to Ek’s investment in Helsing.[174][175][176][177][178]

That sounds like a similar system to what the UK introduced after WW2. It was scrapped in most of the country in the 1970s for the downsides you’ve mentioned.
I never had to do it, but instead had to study why it was scrapped. I’m surprised it’s still a common system in highly developed countries such as France!
