You okay?
In my decades of IT work I have literally never seen this to be an issue. To myself or others.
You okay?
Businesses steal so much from us it would probably just bring us to neutral
File systems aren’t even real.
I love linux like a pet. I love windows like my car. Can we stop with this pointless making a content mountain over any insignificant difference. Don’t get me started
Least favorite part of linux honestly
TikTok was a Chinese intelligence operation in the end.
I’m willing to bet it’s a bad game. A little controversy to fool idiot’s into buying it without thinking usually works. It serves double duty as it keeps those who really want the best games out of the discussion.
Cutting your face to spite the mirror.
It’s just another addiction in our world that encourages over-consumption. If this were just people looking at silly videos nobody would have a problem. It’s just another brick in the wall. We should fight for every one that gets put in.
False dichotomy, they aren’t the same. There is no ‘social media’ just how we communicate right now. Right now at best it’s innocent stealing of our data for enormous profit, at worst - it’s influencing us to destroy ourselves or each other.
It should be that simple. What people don’t realize is it isn’t. That’s okay, I’m not mad. I just want to help.
Remember these people are ill. Social media addiction will be studied for years to come. Bashing these kind of people will only push them to these apps and worsen the problem. The more honest we are, the faster this will turn around. Call these people sick to their face and watch them writhe and squirm as they try and justify it. It looks ugly but it will do them a load of help compared to nothing.
I’ve since dropped this position because the world has changed, and so has my view. Heart Disease kills more people than anything, and now we effectively have a cure for obesity. Obesity should now be seen as smallpox or polio - something to be eradicated. No excuses, and now they’re actively limiting the supply of this - forcing more product out of the hands that need it and into the hands of people like musk
Both can be true. This probably makes more sense in your head.
I accept that we inhabit a small, moss-covered rock hurtling through the vastness of space. Our existence is the result of a mathematically improbable chance and countless years of what could be described as ‘luck.’ In such a chaotic and unpredictable universe, it is in our best interest to create social systems that foster order. While we have evolved to shield ourselves from the cold, unyielding expanse of space, we have yet to fully evolve to protect ourselves from one another. It’s akin to taking honey from a hive of angry bees without protective gear—bees instinctively defend themselves against a human intruder, but we as humans cannot do the same. We only see other humans. So the problem persists.
Brain Thompson was a fellow bee taking way more honey from us than we would otherwise allow. He was always going to do this, yet we didn’t respond until the mask he wore was an insult to much to bear. We gave him every opportunity to change his way, and he had the responsibility to point the company in another direction. It was only after refusing the call again and again, choosing profits over people, that we saw him for what he was. Eventually the matter is settled by someone keeping score. Although I would much rather see him pay for every life he’s taken, we all know that was never going to happen. What my man Luigi did was an abortion of justice, but one far far less severe than the ruthless murdering that Brain welcomed, engaged in, and profited from. He was a real life “Napoleon”, if you mind the Animal Farm reference. We’re simply better off without him.
This is the future of Feudalism
