Hello! 👋
I searched for the meaning and got a video clip instead of a musical about the word, still don’t know the meaning and I am fine with that, now I know how to sound precocious ;)
My first and only audiobook (I forgot the title) had one track per chapter. I started at chapter one and kept wondering from time to time why things were happening with no explanation. Then, several chapters later, I’d finally figure it out what was going on because the characters started setting up events I’d already heard about so I checked my music player and it was on shuffle… It actually worked weirdly well, haha.
The only iPhone users I ever met who cared were back when texting cost a lot, unless you had a special plan (there was one that made it free if the person you texted had the same plan). Then smart phones came and we all switched to Kik, then WhatsApp, then Messenger (some got both or an alternative). And now we have got free texting and calling across the whole EU, yet none of my friends uses it haha
Nice! I saw Mozilla also added an ai chat in the browser recently (not in the phone version that I have seen tho).
It is too bad duck.ai only runs the small models. Gpt4o-mini is not very good, it can be very inaccurate and very inconsistent :( I would like to see the 4.1-mini instead, faster and better and got function calling, so it can do web searches for example. O3 can’t so it can only know what it knows until 2023.
But thanks for the information I will be looking out for when 4.1 is added!
You put into words exactly how I’ve felt about language learning apps. Every time I try a game or app that’s supposed to teach you, it feels like I’m starting over, and it never actually becomes fun. I tried Duolingo, but after a while, I found myself just doing super easy lessons to keep my streak going so I wouldn’t have to sit through the boring ones. It felt pretty bad, so I stopped using it when I hit 800 days.
My friend didn’t use any apps and instead started by texting and talking with people and managed to learn Korean in just a year, well enough for casual, everyday conversations or hobby-related stuff. Meanwhile, I’ve been using apps and still can’t hold a conversation with anyone…
I would assume it is more about time than money. It is a big investment making a whole functional system with llm (I have a hard time believing it is actually AI), it will cost a lot if done wrong (just like everything else). You can’t just prompt “make a course in Spanish” and get anything good out of it and you still need ppl who can quality check the output. I could see them use it to mass produce sentences and stories in different levels (not the actual story) and voice recordings, but not actually anything creative and I would assume that is the goal. But we have seen too many shitty products to believe in anything with llm.
It changes the UI text of the website, such as filters, titles, and sorting options, but not the descriptions.
I can’t decide which is worse, a functioning language switch that never included English for the descriptions (which is the only text I actually need translated) or a broken language switch. The way it switches languages is also quite odd, as if it’s asking, ‘Are you sure?’"
That is very interesting, I have always used firefox and Android and have never seen that problem so I got curious and went to bestbuy.com to check and it looks exactly as it should for me. Do you use any add ons? I use ublocker, decentraleye and super agent.
I am with you. Plus you can do other exercises while breathing (and breath more per minute) and still earn money. And if you need money faster then go for a run or something. 12-20 breaths per minute when sitting 20-30 when walking 40-60 when running
I don’t need to earn a lot as a passive side job and when I get old and can’t walk as much will I still earn money and I think it is when I am old I actually need it.
It made me chuckle a little imaging that you do a full 365 degree spin Infront of Microsoft and then walk away (in an awkward way), instead of 180 degrees to walk the opposite direction haha
Exactly this, they are usually young too and they know their only job is to fire ppl and/or do decisions that will make most if not all unhappy. I have only seen it once my self but a lot of friends went through that at their company.
I might not fully grasp what you said, but from my understanding, they were discussing intersex people. In these cases, it’s not an either/or situation at birth regarding sex characteristics or chromosomes. It could be a mix of various combinations, or sometimes none at all. The Y chromosome might not be fully present, which means a penis might not exist at birth, or it could be very small (and possibly non-functional for urination), but there may still be internal testicles (which I understand is quite common for some “types” of intersex ppl). In your interpretation, does this mean that there are individuals with a Y chromosome and then there is the rest of the population?
So, we have XY, XYY, XXY versus the others, who might have just one X, two Xs, or a partial Y (I think there were other combinations too). That doesn’t seem very binary to me. It’s like saying you’re either a kid (under 18 in most countries) or an adult, which doesn’t cover everyone and doesn’t say much either. But maybe we took your comment too serious.
However, labels have always been a tool to simplify life, and they have never been strictly binary. It’s similar to organizing a home with labels, there is always at least one drawer labeled other/miscellaneous.
There are as many intersex people as there are redheads, and they can have two sets of sex organs, no organs, or a combination of organs. This wide category range is why the person you responded to mentioned the parts, as these visibly influence how one’s sex is documented. Intersex conditions can sometimes make this categorization extremely challenging.
No it is the opposite, this is the first paragraph in the article:
Mastodon announced Monday that it’s shifting its structure over the next six months to become wholly owned by a European nonprofit organization—“affirming the intent that Mastodon should not be owned or controlled by a single individual.”
I have many stories how I either accidentally cut into my fingers or break the bones. But most of them was pretty logical (still stupid tho) why it happened but one time was I going to lift up my friend + the chair they sat on for the lols and my ring fingers bone broke… I don’t know how… Your guess is as good as mine
It isn’t about being a snowflake and I think ppl should learn to be respectful towards each other. It would be a disservice to all of us if no one moderates the internet just look at the Andrew Tate case. There are too many ppl out there who do not understand what it means to hurt another person (regardless of reason). It is easy to ignore comments not directed at you but it becomes easily bullying which can become doxing and escalate fast, especially if you ignore it (have you not been in a school with kids/teen? Same things, it escalate until someone steps in. The teacher moderate and there are rules to not bully, it still happens but someone is on standby at least).
Watching other ppl hurting someone is a bad experience for everyone not just the offenders and victims.
Facebook is such a hateful place to be at that I am never logged in there.
My cat loves sleeping with his face pressed inside my armpit or as close as possible in the bend of my arm. Sometimes, he can’t breathe that well, so he does the swimmer’s thing where he pulls up his head, takes a deep breath, and then goes back in 😂
Welcome to the worlds of apps, where most files and folders are autogenerated so you need to use an ide made for it (in this case swift) to make sense of it. I work with apps so little now days that I forget the structure and get just as confused as I was the first time I saw it haha
You could try running them with wine. I have done so with Photoshop but it was pretty long ago and it was not a subscription version of Photoshop, but maybe vs will work out for you otherwise you could try rider all my colleagues who did the switch after some learning curve loves it a lot more than vs. It is faster and resharper doesn’t slow down like it do with vs.
Yes that picture thing happened multiple times at my old job. They kept pestering me about give them a pic to add to the “about us” page and I had to use my face in all channels (jira, slack email and so on) because “otherwise I can’t tell who is who”… my current job handled that much better, they asked for a pic (if I wanted to) to be used as reference for an artist (always the same) to make an avatar and that is now the avatar my coworkers and I use in presentations, systems, emails, webpages anything, we never use real image of our coworkers unless the person wish for it.
I am more amazed that he didn’t stop at 10 and think “damn this is tiresome isn’t there a one liner i could do?”. I want to know how far he went. His stubbornness is amazing but also scary. I haven’t seen this kind of code since back in school lol lol lol
