thanks, that’s comprehensive, I recommend it at least :-)

I agree it is great, but am I the only one running Opensuse MicroOS?
I wouldn’t say dogshit, I would say the results are good enough for most purposes, not great, my priority just as the moment is dumping USA based companies and I thought Ecosia planting trees was a nice touch. Although as someone else pointed out it is still possibly using crawlers from google and bing in the background. I’m still keen to try out other search engines.
I stopped using Google at the same time I closed my accounts with Facebook, instagram, Reddit and Amazon. Currently I’m using Ecosia which I think is German. I’m dumping all the US companies I can based on all the Trump crap. It is taking time and effort but I should be able to actually close the Google account soon and I replaced windows with Linux on all but one of my PCs.
Thankyou, I thought I was crazy because no one else sees this most obvious solution. Why do we need DST at all? If you are a farmer or a school or whatever then just change your start time as necessary. Changing the time itself for everyone twice a year is a daft approach.
Surely UTC is just a newer name for GMT and 0 is Greenwich in England? Since I’m pretty sure the UK came up with the global time zone system in the first place.
Mate, Linux is so simple my 70 year old dad can use it, I’m using opensuse (German) right now, but he is on Ubuntu (British) both are solid choices that a monkey could install and use.
I’ve been closing all my US based accounts recently. I was looking for a non US based Password manager service a couple of days ago. I used european-alternatives.eu and looked at a couple of options before settling on “Heylogin” it is so good I thought I had better recommend it to others… oh and I dumped chat GPT for chat.mistral.ai a couple of weeks ago, I recommend giving it a go.
That is such a lot of people, such a lot of people sufficiently motivated to spend their day protesting. What I struggle to get my head around is what they achieve. I admire them being vocal and taking action at potential risk to themselves but what I take away is that you could have a million people at a protest and it still wouldn’t magically make a government or a president stand down. Does a protest need to be part of a larger strategy to cause paralysis to the state, to cause economic pain or to orchestrate violence. Simply getting mega amounts of people to turn out seems like a massive achievement but it isn’t actually working…
Abolish copper coins. Job done :-)
