Best friend of 6-8 years, I went back to work (I had been receiving VA disability) to get my money right to buy a house. He cut me out and everyone followed his will and did the same, because I couldn’t hang out EVERY day. Never mind I was trying to buy a house so wed have somewhere to hang out and party that wasnt checks notes his in-laws house.

I switched to a French Press recently-ish. Instead of 4 or 5 cups of weaker coffee from my single serve drip thingie, I have 2 strong cups from my French Press and am ready to go. I’m thinking about trying a pourover to see how that is. Espresso is tasty and strong, but I don’t think I’d want it NEARLY enough to justify a machine. I usually only do espresso when I’m traveling, makes me feel fancy having a latte in the big city haha.

All that said, coffee is very individual. There is no “right” answer. If you’re happy with drip, than drip is the way. :)

Whereas a drip just passes through the coffee, a French Press is more of a steep. You get a stronger taste from it than you would on a drip.

Espresso is a whole other thing, expensive to get into at home. It uses a much finer grind and (IIRC) the water is pushed through under pressure.

I dont disagree but that doesn’t change the fact that A- taxes are a thing and therefore a cost that has to be factored in, and B- Even if we fix the tax system it would still be a necessity.

Fixing broken systems is important and WOULD help people find housing, but arguing for utopia or bust is only going to let things get worse as you bicker about the details of municipal spending (which again I do agree on but we ALSO need to work within the system we have now to help people for whom this isn’t theoretical internet banter…)

Unfortunately I think its unrealistic to hope for something that doesn’t take profits into consideration as things stand now. Also, while I agree rents have gone FAAARRRRRR beyond any practical purposes, some people do forget “at cost” includes extra to cover maintenance and taxes.
