  • Totally. I have one of the newer pixels and it’s on the smaller side relatively, but it’s the biggest phone I can use comfortably.

I wear a size medium glove and it’s insane to me that it’s hard to find a phone I can use comfortably in one hand.

At the same time, I’ve started to realize that I should do less with my phone anyway. So I really don’t need it to do to much besides get a good reception and have a day or so of battery life. The most demanding thing I’ve asked my phone to do recently was to emulate some Nintendo games and run llama3.2:1B. But both things are better done either on a device meant to perform that workload or via a self hosted server where my phone is just a client.

I’m with you on those specs. Maybe the best features of new phones is the water resistance. Idk of its possible to have both water resistance and removable batteries and SD cards, but I miss being able to swap out to a fully charged battery or upgrade the storage at a whim. If I hadn’t choose tho, id stick with the water resistance.

So to add to your specs I’d like:

    • water resistance
    • 256 SD card minimum
    • battery last 24hr minimum
    • ability to switch from WiFi to cell mid call
    • don’t need more than a 1080p oled display on a phone
    • comes without any bloatware preinstalled
    • runs linux with ability to sudo

  • Its a ploy in that people assume they are eating fruit and not some kind of pulp that’s next to the actual fruit. Jackfruit rags don’t sound too tasty so they leave it out purposefully. I understand but wouldn’t mind if they invented another word to use so if I actually serve jackfruit fruit to people it’s not weird for them by how different it is from the rags.

I still think it’s strange that the seeds aren’t also marketed as edible. Its kinda like potato once boiled so I guess potatoes are just easier to use in a large scale.

  • As someone who loves Jackfruit, i think the actual fruit bulb of one is much too sweet for a pizza topping.

What you are talking about is actually a byproduct of the fruit which is called the rags. Which can be cooked and eaten, as well as the seeds. Although in my opinion the seeds are much tastier than the rags, just boil them till soft. get yourself a fresh jackfruit and try it.

I think it’s great that we can find ways to eat more parts of the jackfruit, but the fact that most Americans think that jackfruit is just the rags and not the actual fruit means that they never had a fresh one and instead fell for a marketing ploy.

  • You probably won’t be able to run an LTS kernel on a brand new PC that just hit the market. But using the most recent kernel for arch or a derivative like endevorOS should work after like a week maximum.

I did have an issue like this on Ubuntu and its what made me actually start distro hopping since it worked fine on fedora and Arch using the latest kernels.

  • I was running xfce for a while on my old laptop with only 8 GB of ram. Thinking that it was the least resource usage DE. (Which i think it still is but i havent tested in a bit).

Then i got a new pc and tried kde and to my amazment it used just a tiny bit more resources than xfce did on my old laptop. I then installed kde on that old pc and it ran perfectly well. kde had a lot more QOL compared to xfce in my opionion, with none of the jank.

Its intersting how much different our experiences are.

What would you recomend for a DE?
