Every time someone does that it weirds me out because in the 90s telling (and asking) people those things would have been such a suspicious, sketchy move.
And now it’s come 180 in that some see it as a red flag if you don’t give up that information. I had someone on a different social media site accuse me of being a bot because I wouldn’t give up the specific town I’m from. I’ve seen it happen to others too. It is both fascinating and insane how viewpoints have changed regarding identifying yourself online.
I’ve into the goth scene for about two thirds of my life now, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked if I’m sad or depressed. Back in college I showed up to class with some elbow length fingerless gloves, and the dude I usually sat next to practically tore them off because he thought I was covering up cutting myself. His defense was “I have a friend who dresses kind of like you, and they were those gloves to cover up scars.” Well, my dude, I am not your friend and you now no longer have a study partner. I sat elsewhere the rest of the semester.
I’ve started working on portion control. I don’t necessarily eat “bad” food, but I tend to gorge out when it comes to meal time, which hasn’t been great for my weight. But I’m finally sick of not being able to wear some of my favorite shirts anymore, and it’ll be good for my overall heath anyway.
The biggest complaint I’ve had lately is that it will randomly alter my route without letting me know when or why. More than one it has told me to turn when the route it showed me before I hit “start” did not have a turn at that point.
Domino’s for me. At my local chains, they’ve been consistently better than Pizza Hut and even the local pizza place. Pizza Hut is cheaper, but their stuff here is kinda bland. And I got food poisoning from them once lol. The local pizza place likes to overcook and burn their stuff; I have no idea how they’re still in business.
The first BioShock game. I don’t know how I managed to go so long without it being spoiled for me, but man, I’m glad it wasn’t.
I used to love writing little short stories and whatnot as a cathartic emotional outlet, but over the past couple years I just… haven’t. I think it’s coupled with my decrease in reading, since a good, well written book usually inspired me, but I just haven’t been reading like I used to either. I keep telling myself I’m going to get back into both, but that hasn’t happened yet.
And even if you do listen to death/black metal, you can still get crap from some people if it’s not a certain sub-genre. It’s just music, let me listen in peace, I don’t need a lecture.
Oregon Trail on an old Apple IIGS. It was in the elementary school computer lab, and they would let us play that or Carmen Sandiego whenever we were done with our work. We would have little contests to see who could go the farthest without their party dying.
I was addicted to Sam’s Hatch Chile Cheese Flavored Peanuts from the first time I tried them while walking by one of their many sample carts. They were a limited run, so I was very sad when Sam’s stopped carrying them. But, they did start stocking the seasoning itself, so I got that going for me.
