COVID/flu symptoms are the same symptoms as a lot of things, so hard to say anything about what they have based on those symptoms. If their doctor is decent, your best advice is to just let them do their thing. You’re not going to get a useful diagnosis from the Lemmy community.

I’m not sure I completely understand the question. It sounds a bit like “How do you enjoy a nice meal” - there’s no way to instruct someone how to appreciate or enjoy something, you just have to take a moment.
The thing with the “before it’s gone” part is that we don’t always know which things are temporary, so you just have to cultivate an attitude of appreciating things in your life, including the people in it.
Maybe it depends on where? I’ve lived here all my life and the water quality has always been excellent. But my understanding is that, because the county is so huge, different parts get their water from different sources. So maybe I’m just fortunate to live in an area that’s good.
Not true - I live in LA county and the water where I am is excellent - pretty much no benefit from filtering.
So was it a government (state or federal) water treatment plant? If so, I can tell you how it happened. The government contracting agencies have boilerplate text they’re supposed to add to contracts to make sure salient requirements get flowed. They’re supposed to delete or tailor anything that doesn’t make sense, but the contracts people aren’t usually very technical. We had requirements flowed to us about password management and account monitoring, but no one logs into a rocket engine or a torpedo. When we’d point it out, they’d say “oops, we should have deleted that.”
Probably a bleed-over from the embedded side. Spent a lot of years working embedded control systems for NASA and DoD - bare metal systems, often interrupt driven - and it was common to have 50% margin requirements. They know those systems will grow over time, and they often have lifespans measured in decades.
As an aside, a thin coating of vegetable oil in the pan is going to be a pretty negligible day intake.
I had a phone with this and I loved the hell out of it. Could tell at a glace if a notification was for an email, text, or voice call without opening the phone. Could also set a custom color for, say, a text from my wife.

I assumed that because of his wording. People I know don’t really “name prices,” businesses do. My guess was that it was the businesses that he meant, and since it was responses about businesses that he replied to, I think I was right. But, in case, I answered for regular people, too. Don’t know why you have to be shitty about it.
I think that’s because the stations already pay the tax when they buy from suppliers, but wholesalers don’t do this. I could be wrong.

Sure, sounds nice. But is it bad enough that people feel compelled to create a ballot measure and get it changed? Apparently not.
It’s certainly for the store’s benefit, not the consumer’s, but you’re over stating things. Sure, there’s no incentive for the store too post anything other than the price they charge, and not the state and federal charges the government layers on top of that. There’s no law requiring them to do so, and obviously they’d rather post the smaller price. We could change that by making it a law, but no one really seems to care that much - just doesn’t seem like that big of a deal.
When you say “people” you’re really talking about the stores, right? The stores just put the price they charge, not the taxes which they don’t get. Yes, taxes vary from state to state, but it’s not like we’re all going to different states every day. I know what the tax rate is in my area, and so I know to add that when I see a price in a store.
If you really mean “people” as in customers, it depends. If I’m telling someone that a store has a good price, I’ll just quote the store’s price. But sometimes when I’m talking about what I paid, I’ll include everything “Wow, I can’t believe this cart of groceries was $150…”
There are different types of fossils, some of which apply to soft tissue:
Impression: A shallow imprint of a fossil organism that does not retain any organic material.
Compression: A fossil that has been crushed or flattened but retains some organic material, although it has been chemically altered.
Carbonization: A process that occurs during fossilization in which complex organic molecules are converted into a more stable carbon compound that generally has a dark brown color.
This appears to be an impression fossil.
We were restricted even on some proprietary software (especially if it was from a foreign owned company), but you’d be surprised how much scrutiny some of the major packages have had.
A lot of government stuff requires that they have complete provenance of all code in the system. When you have people contributing to it from different places - potentially different countries - they get nervous about it.
