I regularly say how nice France would be if it wasn’t full of French people 😂
Switzerland, I just love the nature (Mountains and Lakes 😍) and Hiking and Swimming. And as someone that also likes Public Transit/dislikes driving a car the reliable and incredibly dense public transit network is also something that I would love to have in Germany. Here you always play the daily Deutsche Bahn Lottery and pick wether your AC/Toilet is defect, or wether half the ordered capacity in your commuter train is missing, and you will have some group cuddling or the train doesn’t come at all, and the promised replacement bus is nowhere to be seen.
I’m from Germany and I haven’t had the opportunity to travel a lot. So I feel like I don’t know enough about any other European country to make such a decision. Damn I couldn’t even say which is the nicest region to live in Germany.
But as an European I do appreciate the opportunity to live and work in any EU country and to travel safely and without the need of a passport within the Schengen area. So that’s a good thing.

Definitely. I have some non-EU colleagues, they envy us a lot for that
Finland. Definitely the most beautiful country in Europe I have ever visited. Warm summers and freezing cold winters. People that accept “hermits” like me. I might have been a Finn in a former life. Also so many gorgeous lakes. Only downside: mosquitoes, these vile creatures own half of the country.
Each has its own merit. I really struggle not Picking my own. It’s central, big and decent.
I’ll go with Switzerland.
For me it’s Italy.
Just the food would be enough, but then there is the weather, the charm of the cities and small towns, the culture… Can’t wait to go back.
from where are you from?
I currently live in Spain!
And how much money do you have in your bank account?
… But where are you from?
To be honest, it’s not that easy to answer. My parents are from country A, I grew up partly in country B and then country C, I worked in country D, and now I live in Spain.
Also, giving all of these countries makes it quite easy to doxx me, so I usually avoid that.
I wouldn’t say the weather in summer…
German, gotta go with Netherlands.
Love that we speak a bastardized version of each others languages, which allows us to somewhat reliably hold conversations without needing to use English and the likes.
Shit just works. Feels a lot less bureaucratic than Germany. And more egalitarian.
Austria is even easier.

I love many things about Bulgaria. The nature, the lively city centers and the overall vibes in the cities.
I’m from Germany and I truly wish our cities had some Bulgarian vibes.
We’re planning a trip soon, any hidden highlights?
@Oneser@lemm.ee My biggest tip is to take a look at 100 nto. It lists 100 interesting touristic objects all over Bulgaria. It leads you to many smaller but great places. Google maps has an slightly outdated overlay that shows these places. At most of them you can get a small Booklet. In it you can collect stamps from each visited place.
Some specific places that come to my mind are:
- Veliko Tarnovo. It’s the former capital and has a big castle ruin. In the evening head to the Monument to the Assen Dynasty and enjoy the view of the city.
- Smolyan and the area around it. The city has a great Regional History Museum and the area around the City is good for Hiking. Maybe take a Jeep ride up Eagles eye and visit the Yagodinska cave.
- The Seven Rila Lakes in the Rila mountains. You can take a cable cart up and hike the rest. From there you can also hike to the Rila monastery.
- The Devetashka Cave. It has these impressive arches. Good for pictures :)
- Plovdiv. The historic city center and the student filled bars and cafes.
- Burgas has not only a very nice beach but also the awesome Sea Garden. I would avoid the typical tourist beaches like the Golden Sands near Varna and the Sunny Beach near Nessebar. Instead opt for the central beach in Burgas where most locals go anyway.
- Try to eat at a механа (Mehana) and order Food in a сач (Sach).
- Drink some Boza.
If you have any specific questions like rental cars or acoomodation feel free to ask here or write me a private message.
Really, really appreciate it! Thanks 😎
Scotland. Yes, that counts.
As a Dane I would say Italy.
is good for a vacation, but do not move down here…
I’d have to say America. I know it’s not European, and is my own country, but it’s by far the best country in the world. I mean, look at our beautiful red white and blue flag. I don’t think any country has ever used such beautiful colors.
Bad troll is troll. Ban this douche
I guess you missed the title of that thread
not just the title - common sense as well…
Buckle up boys, Reddit is leaking again…
