I don’t really have any on my computer (all I use that for is Vim, Firefox, and Git), but on my phone: Orbot (basically Tor as a VPN on your phone).

Avoid using too much bandwidth on Tor. Do not stream or torrent over Tor. Use it for basic browsing as much as you want, without burdening the nodes in terms of bandwidth. Never use your personal login accounts over Tor.
