Although you can never admit this publically, as it has become the social expectation. But feel free to move to an alternate day shower routine if you haven’t had a sweaty day. I guarantee no one will notice. Your skin will be less dried out. You’ll save a not-insignificant-amount in water and energy and time.
Body odour comes from not showering for very many days, and more so from wearing unwashed smelly clothes.
You don’t need to shower daily. You absolutely do need to wash yourself in some other way, like with a washcloth. Unless you have no BO at all, more likely than not that bacteria colony under the armpits will make you smell bad regardless of if you had a “sweaty day” or not. Plus, wearing clean clothes helps a lot.
Anecdotally, I went to a gaming convention once and that taught me to never do it again. The smell was so bad. Living the stereotype. And on a recent concert I had someone stink so bad in front of me, it ruined the experience.
Also, as a side note. The article giving an example about why someone doesn’t shower being not liking having wet hair. I’ve heard this once. Do people not know they can just… tie their hair in a bun if it’s longer or just avoid wetting it if it’s short?
If your hair needs to be treated with a straightener or something, the humidity will mess it up. This is exactly why I cut off all my hair even though I love long hair, so I understand the complaint completely.
Whether or not you need to shower daily comes down to personal body chemistry and activity though. I have to shower one or twice a day since going on testosterone, but I could get away with every third day prior to that. The difference in smell is so staggering. I have to wash my face multiple times throughout the day now as well, but I’ve got fully make-up’d coworkers who are fine all day. It’s just that our bodies are different.
I don’t mean to complain about the sign’s wording though; I think it’s meant to give hygienic advice rather than actually police what products everyone is using and how often.
Oh great, more health advice from unqualified randos online.
Not everyone’s bodies have the same needs and people should be cautious about blindly following whatever advice someone confidently suggests. If you want to shower less, please talk to a doctor/dermatologist first.
My sensitive skin has a maybe 36 hour limit without washing before it gets distractingly itchy. There’s no way this advice could work for everyone.
There was no need to get confrontational.
If you are itchy, shower, no one forbade you. Just, it’s not needed by the vast majority of people. It is but a social norm.
It is also detrimental to shower everyday with soaps.
FYI - you do not need to shower daily.

you might not need to but i do. my musk is potent.
Likewise. Due to a medical issue, I have a heightened amount of ammonia in my blood, so anyone with a functioning sniffer can tell if I skip a day.
A little nagchampa or scottish heather can go a long way in a pinch, I’ve found. Always keep a little in my travel bag just in case.

Just be careful out there, people.

It’s a shame how saying “Ask your doctor before taking health advice you find online” is considered controversial now.
That might be necessary if you have sensitive skin but I’d never dream of asking my doctor for permission to try out showering less than once a day
