I’m begging everyone to try a healthy alternative to brain eating like vaping - you still get a the same effects (maybe even stronger!) with much less prion disease!

(In theory please no one take this as actual medical advice I’m just a wee little stoner)

Corpses of family members were often buried for days, then exhumed once the corpses were colonized by insect larvae, at which point the corpse would be dismembered and served with the larvae as a side dish

All of them. Every prion disease affects the same protein in the brain. They’re all 100% fatal degenerative encephalitis diseases and they just plain suck.

I get that eating human brains can give you a deadly disease, but what I wanna know is why didn’t the brain owner die from that same disease?

It’s because an essential protein got misfolded while the body decays, these misfolded proteins can misfold other protein and suddenly your brain is full of useless molecules instead of what it needs.

Some prion diseases, including essentially all those known to affect humans, take decades to cause symptoms. If they hadn’t died of something else, they would have eventually died of the disease.

Cannibalism isn’t, speaking societally, dangerous because it gives you the disease. If you get it and die, whatever, that doesn’t endanger anyone else. The problem is that cannibalism is usually a group affair, and that means one person with a prion disease can pass it on to many people at once, who won’t show symptoms for essentially half a lifetime, and they might also be eaten when they die, spreading it to more people, etcetera.

Gonna comment the same thing here I did there, OK so eating acid denatures the hormones - what about smoking/vaping/nebulizing??

idk anything but I’d imagine most hormones don’t aerosolize very well and burning them would probably change them as well. you could probably get results by vaping them? brains do have a lot of moisture to be evaporated but like. most of it isn’t hormones

Just did some quick research and it looks like most hormones aren’t too polar, but hey worst case scenario I’ll just ask everyone to carry around their personal brain nebulizer and take breaths as needed
