GPU drivers, at least on AMD’s side, have been solid and Nvidia has been generally decent and getting a lot better with the new process they’re doing for the newer cards. But my scenario might be more unique to the MB implementation of the wifi chipset since when I posted on other boards, others with different MB’s/cards using the same driver aren’t seeing the same issues.

And of course the other downside is that the wifi 7 driver for that chip is not available for windows 10 and is windows 11 only and I do not want to use that as my daily even if the driver is solid and honestly I’m not a huge perpetual online gamer so it’s not impacting my ability to use and enjoy my Bazzite instance.

When you’re a new user and don’t know what the hell the native app store application is, which doesn’t have all the programs a person would want to use and install there, and when a new user goes to find their old windows apps that have Linux install instructions, what’s the first thing that they have there? Guess. It’s always find your flavor of Linux and the first steps shown are always terminal commands with sudo apt get or sudo dnf.

That’s everyone first time with Linux until they learn more about it so get off your high horse and condescending gatekeeping attitude.

So I’ve gone back to linux for my daily but holy hell the driver support is very much still not there, especially for gaming.

The wifi driver is flakey and drops connection requiring a disable/re-enable every so often, power management doesn’t work quite right with sleep mode locking up the system every so often, keyboard no use of most of the advanced features, same for the mouse and never mind about the other various nits that I end up finding that honestly don’t have much info because there’s no official driver support from the companies, just mostly wonderful people who are making things work but don’t have that industrial knowledge and limited time.

Still, absolutely no regrets in moving back to Linux because Windows has been just horrible since 7 and 11, which I still have to use at work, is just absolute crap.

Camera’s can be easily confiscated and broken by fascists.

Instant uploads are much harder to suppress.

Cripes all of that and not even, “Buy a burner SIM card”, “Use a VPN at all time if you have to use data”, “For the love of god don’t use biometrics as authorization, use a alphanumeric password to unlock”, “Use the damn encryption solution provided by your phone’s OS”.

Very cool. I am still running Bazzite as my reintroduction into Linux as a daily and it’s been great for gaming but I will say that as more and more familiarity rolls in, I do get frustrated with it being an immutable distro and having to jump through hoops to get it do what I want.

Still I think it’s a great distro for those who don’t want to deal with MS bullshit anymore and a great friendly, works right out of the box while you learn or relearn Linux, and gets you gaming without a lot of hassle and having to deal with less than friendly Linux users.

Been lucky enough to have been able to visit Hong Kong before the takeover, Germany, the Netherlands, India and my wife was able to go additionally France and Costa Rica.

Never had a problem with international travel and never felt unsafe in any of those places personally outside of trying to drive, just once, in India, was enough for me and took up my company’s offer for a driver. My wife had no issues with any of her traveling with or without me either.

Now unless someone can point me to an analysis where we have some tangible proof that banks and tons of companies are invested, not just using, AI, it seems to me the fall out would be limited to tech companies, which yeah would involve some job losses but nothing on the scale of the housing or dotcom bubble.

Sure that bubble will hurt them but they’re not driving forces in the economy, just politics, which I guess could cause a economic crash if they get your idiot politicians more scared of them than the people with France on their minds.

My company and specifically my team are looking at incorporating AI as a supplement to our coding.

We looked at the code produced and determined that it’s of the quality of a new hire. However we’re going in with eyes wide open, and for me skeptical AF, going to try to use it in a limited way to help relieve some of the burdens of our SW engineers, not replace. I’m leading up the usage of writing out unit tests because none of us particularly like writing unit tests and it’s got a very nice, easy, established pattern that the AI can follow.

End of the day does it even matter? They’ve gotten a ton of other information including authentication data which is probably just as, if not more, useful/lucrative to them.
