My wife always gets excited when a book she loves is being adapted (right now Verity and project hail Mary) but I learned from many disappointments to not get excited. I still watch most of them but I don’t expect too much

Many years ago I made a library for Arduino to control an 8x8 LED matrix to display running text. It was not very clean but I like it enough to upload it to the forums (I couldn’t find anything similar). One week later it was complely different to what I uploaded and it was super efficient and a bunch of people added new functions and availability but my name still appeared as a main contributor. Of course I put it on my CV and showed it to my professors!

Here’s a better one. We just passed the predicted maximum point

As a Mexican I thought 127V was the norm in the West until very recently

My cousin just finished his MBA from a big college, he is so proud that he used AI for most of his assignments, he used 3 out 4 subscriptions to make it “more human” and “not mistakes” and so they couldn’t detect it easily
He said that everybody in his courses was using AI and that most group discussions were about which AI is better, so it makes sense that those managers are so excited about AI, because it was able to do their “meaningless” jobs so they think it can do anyone’s job, but he doesn’t see the irony that he would be the first to be replaced
This is my favorite

They even launched the new model on the anniversary of the chase afair

It’s early even in Michigan. It’s been unseasonably warm this year

I had to allow a bunch of stuff in pihole because I wasn’t able to use Google flights or Google News and some functions in Gmail, the sites never finished loading

The second one is more generic, but I agree with the first one

That reminds me of 2015 when there was a big flood in Chennai. We were working on a project and the software team was located there. When the floods happened we didn’t hear anything from them for a few days. A middle manager sent a very angry email to them complaining that we would not be able to make the milestones if they didn’t work during that time and he actually asked us to send an email every few hours asking for updates (we all ignored the order except for one guy)
Thankfully upper management and the CEO office knew better and sent a support email to them and I believe they reprimanded the other manager.
After a few days we learned that some employees actually lost their lives and the office itself was affected and they’re were not able to return to work for a few weeks

Is there even an egg shortage? They stores where I shop usually have their egg fridges as full as usual, only more expensive

In my previous job I had to travel very often to customer’s sites or or other offices
The ones in Germany drank regularly during lunch time. I never felt comfortable to do it since my job was very technical. In one office they even had a fridge full of beers and wines that you could grab freely. I never saw anybody drinking at the office tho
Do they have waffle makers with the shape of the state like the ones in Texas?
You are overthinking a (bad) joke
I love the AI features for photos of my galaxy, but other than that I don’t use it
The only thing I need to run on windows now is for H&R block tax software. I wonder if I can try it with wine but I’m afraid of losing the activation license
