Yeah nextcloud is a bit of a beast to manage alone. Tell you what, I’ll try selfhosting LaSuite sometime and I’ll tell you if it has it or not.

tbh I really don’t know for this solution, but you might like nextcloud, it’s exactly what you’re looking for, each part of the site is connected in that way.

They’re all cloud tools, but if you have a spare computer and some knowledge you can host it yourself.

To have a single user with multiple services you usually use a separate oauth provider, in the french government’s case that’s France connect but authelia is a good self-hosted option.

It’s possible these ones have a built-in system for this though, I haven’t checked.

This is only a part of france’s “LaSuite” (very original name guys), that seemingly will replace every equivalent american service.

They generally work pretty well (demo on the site) and are a mix of homegrown solutions and rebrands of existing projects like matrix. All of them are open source.

Since both approaches are used, and liked, miscellaneous advantages and disadvantages of either approach are irrelevant, and so are other arguments pertaining to design. This is why I haven’t brought them up.

I agree, but there has to be a certain bar of usability for it to be a viable replacement, since you need to convince other people to use it as well. Matrix is the closest one for me, but it’s not quite there yet.

Because I like using it better than the alternatives. That is not the case for discord vs whatever else.

both of those are not remotely as feature rich or user-friendly as discord.

I have no source for this but I remember reading something about the new login manager a while ago that said it would follow the plasma theme. So hopefully that.

Thing is modern clipboard managers like the one on kde server and equivalent purpose.

My mouse’s middle click is easy to hit accidentally, and so I often paste stuff on accident, I just wish I could disable it. The “select to copy” doesn’t work for me either, since I often absentmindedly select things while I’m reading.

The reaction that I see here explains why, I guess.

It’s cool, but I cannot count the amount of times I was confused by that and accidentally pasted after switching, I would be glad if it became configurable.

Maybe a stupid question, but you’d have to have something to hold the really hot thing, right? And obviously you’d need a bunch of stuff connected to the furnace to keep it in orbit and supplied with energy. So in that case wouldn’t the heat from the thing being heated spread to the rest of the satellite anyways? Like, clearly you can’t just use non-conductive materials because then we’d already have that on earth.
