As a Unihertz owner: stay sway from any of their products. Software support is non-existent. If you are lucky, you may get 1 update 1 month after release.

They are a niche brand, so custom ROMs simply don’t properly work.

What I’ll never understand is why they don’t release their code and let the community make Unihertz the best brand ever, because hardware quality is incredible. But this hardware is useless with terrible software.

I had Unihertz Jelly Star for 1.5 years until recently. I loved how small it was but the first thing I did when I bought it was flashing it with LineageOS because I did not want to have the Chinese Android on it. That, unfortunately, meant that each time I wanted to update, I had to wipe the phone and flash it again with new version of LineageOS, and I got tired of that. So I went for Motorola Razr 50 and I will never return to Unihertz again.

That’s weird, you should be able to flash the update and the Gapps zip to update. It’s called a “Dirty Flash”, it’s only on specific updates that it isn’t available.

Add a removable battery, make sure it has a headphone jack and can be fully unlocked/rooted and I’ll buy 3 right bloody now.

Document it well enough to run real Linux and I’ll shout about it from the street like a crazy person for free advertising.
