This seems to imply that being trans is a choice or something that one can be convinced of becoming. Not a very good joke imo

Ok. So call em eggs or something.

You posted a “meme” that explicitly calls them “cishet boys”. If that’s not what they are don’t call them that. Transitioning isn’t what make someone trans. Being trans makes someone trans.

The meme implies people can be convinced to be one or the other, when I’m pretty sure even you agree it’s a matter of discovering who someone was all along.

This joke you’ve posted is in such bad taste.

That you didn’t intend the most obvious interpretation of what you’ve posted, does not absolve you of the responsibility of having perpetuated it.

People in this thread are trying to tell you how and why posting this one was a misstep.

Please do not ignore them. It wont help you.

This seems to be very self-defeating.

So, old boomers and right-wing nuts are pretty adamant about being trans is either some sort of phase or a psychological condition. And a good deal of them are afraid that their children will be psychologically conditioned to become trans.

A ludicrous idea. Science doesn’t fully understand what the mechanism or cause behind gender dysphoria is, but it being a purely psychological condition has been… sooooorrrta… ruled out.

However, now this “meme” is proposing defeating the fascists by… Psychologically conditioning males to become trans… Thereby proving the fears of the opposite valid.

Cis dude from the city that tortured Matthew Sheppard here. Pretty surprised to leave from a place where I had to stick up for the LGBTQ+ community all the damned time to find a surprising amount of people not respecting my orientation. Not saying anything about the community or any other actors within the community. Just saying it feels awfully familiar. One glance at the comments here, and you can see that these actors don’t represent anybody but themselves. I don’t know about you, but I view hatred to be a screwed up form of empathy. We can’t help but see ourselves in others. And too often, we see the parts of ourselves we would rather shun or reprimand than accept.

So many cis people hate seeing lgbtq+ people suggest all people might not be cis.

People hate being forced to look in a mirror, and I love forcing them to look >:3

I honestly expected lemmy to not lose it over satire this tame.

Of course all people aren’t cis. Anything else would suggest trans people don’t exist. No half-decent person thinks that. Cis or not.

The meme (not you) is being criticised for suggesting it’s possible and even good to “convince” cis people to become trans.

No-one likes that. Whether they’re cis or not.

That’s a weird way to spell “sorry, I didnt consider that the meme I posted in an lgbtq safe space is tantamount to ftm erasure. I’ll be better next time.” It’s shitty when incels hide behind “it’s just a joke” and it’s shitty of you too.

That’s because an apology isn’t necessary because I don’t care if you are offended. And also because the meme isn’t offensive. You literally can’t even articulate why you don’t like it -_-

You being obsessed with attacking something makes you perceive threats that aren’t there.

So where’s your apology to me for trying to bully and psychologically manipulate me for your own pleasure?

You’re delusional. The entire comment section is telling you that your post is offensive. Take the L and move on before more of the community starts to remember your username and associate it with the exclusionary shit you’re defending.

Vote count is 54 and counting.

If you want to talk numbers, then you’re outnumbered by the people who found it funny and aren’t addicted to being upset.

Thank you for helping me curate my blocklist tho, i hate people who try to police the jokes of trans people.

Never ever make a force fem joke again in public, or in general with people you aren’t close with and don’t know how they’ll react to it. It’s like all other jokes about sensitive topics like racism, slavery, etc. You can joke like that with your close friend group behind closed doors and find them funny, but don’t post them on public social media. It’s in very bad taste
